On December 21st, 2023, Pakistan’s Test captain, Shan Masood, visited Cricket Performance Lab (CPL) during their tour to Australia for the Boxing Day Test. It was a moment that stood out in my journey at CPL, where I had the unique opportunity to meet and interact with a world-class cricketer.
Shan came in for a Bat Fitting session, and right from the start, his calm and composed personality was evident. Watching how seriously he took his equipment was a valuable lesson in professionalism. It wasn’t just about the game for him—it was about being fully prepared and precise in every detail, including his choice of bats.
What made this moment even more special was knowing that Shan had been following the CPL socials before coming in for the fitting. His visit felt like a testament to the work we had been doing at CPL.
After the bat fitting, I had the chance to talk to Shan about cricket, life, and personal development. It was inspiring to learn how he balances the pressures of international cricket with his own growth off the field. One thing I’ll always remember is how he wore his AirPods throughout the fitting—why, I still don’t know—but it’s a memory that makes me smile whenever I think about that day.
