Networking is a vital part of any career journey, and it’s a skill that needs to be honed regularly. And what better place to learn it than at an event that brings together people from various backgrounds and industries. Recently, I attended the Student Connect event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) organized by InternMatch and Study Melbourne, and it was an excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and expand my network.
At the event, I connected with several people, including Domenic Saporito, Ryan Walker, Penny Holloway, Reuben Williams, Adyant Modi, and Pratik Ambani. Each of them had something unique to offer, and I learned several valuable lessons from my conversations with them.
Firstly, I learned that effective communication is key to building a successful network. Domenic Saporito, with his excellent communication skills, showed me how important it is to be articulate and clear when conveying my thoughts and ideas.

Secondly, I learned that it’s essential to be passionate about your interests and share them with others. Ryan Walker and I bonded over our love for sports, and our conversation was a perfect example of how shared interests can be the foundation of a meaningful connection.
Thirdly, I realized that networking events are an excellent opportunity to meet and connect with people who have organized the event. Penny Holloway was the mastermind behind the MCG Student Connect event, and it was great to connect with her and express my appreciation for organizing such an incredible evening.

Fourthly, I learned that networking is an excellent way to gain valuable insights from experienced individuals. Reuben Williams, with his vast knowledge of the sports world, gave me some great insights into the industry.
Fifthly, I learned that networking events are also a chance to catch up with people you already know. Adyant Modi and I go way back, and it was great to catch up with him and see how much he has grown.

Finally, I realized that networking is all about building meaningful relationships. Pratik Ambani and I had an excellent conversation, and I learned that building relationships takes time, effort, and a genuine interest in the other person.

In conclusion, attending the MCG Student Connect event was an incredible experience, and I am grateful to InternMatch and Study Melbourne for organizing it. It taught me the art of networking, and I realized that building a successful network requires effective communication, shared interests, passion, valuable insights, and meaningful relationships.
